A Beginners Guide To Whiskeys

Narration of American Whiskey

Scotch whiskey is the most preferred alcoholic drink of all time. It has been around for about 100 years ago. History states that the whiskey which was first distilled in Scotland could have been brought to the country by Christian monks. Scotch whiskey was produced, distilled and developed as early as 1960. The origin of Scotch whisky is in Scotland and was discovered by Flair John Cor. Due to the taxation introduced on Scottish whiskey in 1964 it leads to the emergence of companies that sold Scottish whiskey illegally. To curb this in 1973 the Scotland parliament came up with a law that made it easy to set up a licensed distillery and this put illegal distillers off the market. Currently scotch has been advanced technologically to become a popular drink.

New distilling technologies were brought about by new Scottish and Irish immigrants who settled in American lands for whiskey to be called scotch must be distilled and matured in Scotland Since there is lack of smoke in the drying process of grain or corn thus the American whiskey is stronger, fuller, the sweeter.

Six different brews of American whiskey exist. The bourbon is believed to be an origin of Kentucky. Bourbon should be made of fifty percent corn and should be sorted in charred oak barrels for a term not shorter than two years as stipulated. The alcohol by volume of the spirit should not exceed eight percent. It is worth to note that bourbon is produced in many different states. Tennessee is closely related to bourbon. However, their biggest difference is that Tennessee must be filtered through sugar maple charcoal and can only be distilled in Tennessee. There are so far two types of this whiskey namely Jack Daniels and George Dickel. Rye and Wheat whiskey are used to create other types of whiskey by blending them together. For Rye to be bottled it must be fifty-one percent rye thus not many are bottled. Rye is distilled in the states of Indiana and Kentucky and is it slightly bitter and more powerful in taste. The con whisky must contain eighty percent con unlike bourbon. Con has to be aged in uncharred barrels if it is to be stored in wood, Blended American whisky is mass produced in the industrial market and contains twenty percent rye and bourbon. The whiskey is cheap and easy to produce since the spirit percent is just eight percent. American whiskey can be termed as elegant and delightful since it can be served socially in pubs and restaurants as well as be issued as a corporate gift to employees or executives.
